![]() ![]() The libraries are located strategically near playgrounds, elementary schools and daycares / preschools and are hosted by local daycares / preschools and citizens who continue to be stewards of these libraries. They sponsored five new little libraries and PoCo Building Supplies provided supplies and construction support. And at least one person wants to put a stop to them. These book exchanges are now 50,000 strong and growing. In 2015 / 2016, the Tri-Cities Early Childhood Development Committee partnered with the City of Port Coquitlam to supply Little Free Libraries in Citadel Heights. Little Free Library has now touched down in more than 70 other countries. There are many libraries in the Tri-Cities area sponsored by different organizations. The Little Free Library movement began several years ago where communities around the world began installing small outdoor bookcases to house books for people within a community, where people could take a book and leave a book in exchange. Little Free Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes neighborhood book exchanges, usually in the form of a public bookcase.More than 150,000 public book exchanges are registered with the organization and branded as Little Free Libraries.
